Poland's first 24-hour commercial news channel. The slogan - "the whole truth, around the clock" - bound the epistemological claim of truth directly to the technical capability of constancy.

TVN24 launched on August 9, 2001, as Poland’s first 24-hour commercial news channel. The competitor was not really another cable network - it was TVP, the legacy state broadcaster, still carrying the historical residue of state management and political pressure. The slogan was Cała prawda całą dobę - the whole truth, around the clock. Compressed and lethal: every word does work.

Cała prawda - the whole truth - implies that what TVP and the wider establishment have been delivering is a partial truth. Managed. Sanitized. Half-told. The accusation is structural. Całą dobę - around the clock - then welds the claim of truth to the technological frame of constancy. The argument runs together: continuous broadcast equals unmanaged reality equals the whole story. There is no time, in a 24-hour feed, to edit out what should not be seen.

The credibility followed events. Live coverage of September 11, of the death of John Paul II, of the Smolensk plane crash - moments where the country needed an unbroken feed - cemented TVN24 as the channel Poles turned to in crisis. The post-communist trust pitch had a specific shape. After decades of curated, politically managed reality on state television, the promise of unvarnished, always-on coverage was not just a marketing claim. It was a counter-positioning against the recent past itself.
